Minister of Health Meets with TTNNA President

Port of Spain, May 20, 2025: On Monday May 19, 2025,the Honourable Dr. Lackram Bodoe, Minister of Health, accompanied by the Honourable Dr. Rishad Seecheran, Minister in the Ministry of Health, met with President of the Trinidad and Tobago National Nurses Association (TTNNA), Mr. Idi Stuart, to engage in constructive dialogue on key issues affecting nurses within the public health system.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Health’s Headquarters, focused on matters surrounding three main areas: staffing, training and working conditions for nurses. Both parties acknowledged the challenges currently facing the nursing body and expressed a shared commitment to developing strategies to improve healthcare delivery, with the well-being of the patient and the healthcare worker in mind.

The Minister expressed appreciation for Mr. Stuart’s advocacy and reiterated the Ministry’s openness to continued engagement with stakeholders to strengthen the nation’s public health system. He added, “Our nurses are the backbone of the public health system, and it is only through open, respectful dialogue can we meaningfully address their challenges. I value the input of the TTNNA and remain committed to working collaboratively to ensure that both our healthcare professionals and our patients are supported by a system that is strong, fair, and responsive”.
