Port of Spain, March 5, 2024: The Ministry of Health conducted an evacuation drill at its Corporate Headquarters earlier today. The evacuation drill began at approximately 10:30am and staff were allowed to re-enter the building at 11:15am.
The exercise was spearheaded by the Ministry's Disaster Preparedness Coordinating Unit and conducted in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the Port of Spain City Corporation Disaster Management Unit and the Horticulture Division, Ministry of Agriculture.
The evacuation drill was undertaken in keeping with best practice and compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act. It also allowed the Ministry to assess its systems and processes and staff roles and responsibilities in the event of an emergency, at its Corporate Headquarters.
The Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health, who also participated in the exercise, thanked the staff for their prompt action and response to the evacuation drill. The Minister also thanked the emergency responders who ensured that there was minimal disruption to the flow of traffic and neighbouring businesses.
