Events supposedly attributable to vaccination and immunization (ESAVI), though not common, are expected; and the Ministry of Health has in place a reporting, surveillance and monitoring system that guarantees to address any health events to vaccines.
It is recommended that all ESAVI be reported, especially if the affected person or his/her family find it necessary to consult a healthcare professional. Reports can be made to the healthcare provider who administered the vaccine or any Accident and Emergency Department. This report will then be submitted to the Expanded Programme of Immunization at the Ministry of Health, who then launches an investigation into the matter to determine if the reported event was indeed caused by vaccination or immunization.
