Definitions

Drug: Includes any substance or mixture of substances manufactured, sold or represented for use in— (a) the diagnosis, treatment, mitigation or prevention of a disease, disorder, abnormal physical state, or the symptoms thereof, in man or animal; or (b) restoring, correcting or modifying organic functions in man or animal.

Free Sale: Drug that does not require a prescription from a physician, dentist or a veterinarian.

Controlled Drug: Means any of the drugs classified as such in Division 2 of the Second Schedule, and includes a preparation. Requires a prescription from a physician or dentist.

Third Schedule Drug: Means any drug mentioned in the Third Schedule to the Act. Requires a prescription from a physician or dentist.

Veterinary Drug: means a drug sold for veterinary use, and includes a drug supplied on a prescription given by a veterinary surgeon.
