Biomedical Technician

A Biomedical Technician maintains and repairs specialist medical equipment, clinical accessories and surgical instruments.

DUTIES

  • Install and test medical equipment.
  • Maintain and repair medical equipment.
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment.
  • Train and advice users of safe procedures.
  • Work with other staff in determining needs of equipment.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on biomedical equipment.
  • May be required to travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University Degree in Biomedical Technology or a related field, OR
  • A Technicians diploma in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEET).
  • Appropriate Certification in the repair specialist equipment and systems from the relevant manufacturer.
  • Proficient in the use of computers, with a working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite.
  • Interpreting schematic diagrams to perform effective repair and maintenance on basic biomedical equipment
