Media Release - Voluntary Recall Notice of Vancomycin Hydrochloride for Oral Solution USP 250mg-5mL

Port of Spain, April 9, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH), via its Drug Inspectorate, advises of a voluntary recall notice of four (4) lots of Vancomycin Hydrochloride for Oral Solution, USP, 250 mg/5mL packaged in 80 mL, 150 mL, or 300 mL pack sizes. The recall was issued by Amneal Pharmaceuticals, LLC due to the potential overfilling of bottles.

The Ministry of Health presents State of the Art Resuscitation Training Equipment to the Regional Health Authorities

Port of Spain, 18 March, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH) presented state-of-the-art Resuscitation Training equipment to representatives of the Regional Health Authority’s (RHAs) during a hand over ceremony held at the Ministry’s Head Office on Thursday 14th March, 2024.

The equipment included a SUSIE Advanced Obstetric Simulator; a NOELLE Birthing Simulator with birthing and resuscitation baby, with wireless control tablet; and a CHARLIE Neonatal Resuscitation Simulator with Interactive ECG, Life/form.

Media Release - Ministry of Health Conducts Evacuation Drill at New Headquarters

Port of Spain, March 5, 2024: The Ministry of Health conducted an evacuation drill at its Corporate Headquarters earlier today. The evacuation drill began at approximately 10:30am and staff were allowed to re-enter the building at 11:15am.

The exercise was spearheaded by the Ministry's Disaster Preparedness Coordinating Unit and conducted in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the Port of Spain City Corporation Disaster Management Unit and the Horticulture Division, Ministry of Agriculture.

Media Release - Voluntary Recall Notice of Several Types of Merba Cookies

Port of Spain, February 29, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH), via its Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division, advises of a voluntary recall notice for several types of Merba Cookies. A food alert notification was issued by the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) after small, metal pieces were found in the products, produced during the period of December 7, 2023 to December 15, 2023.

Port of Spain, February 20, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH), via its Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division, advises of a voluntary recall notice for eight lots of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult. The recall was issued by the manufacturer Haleon, due to microbial contamination.

MoH Media Release - Voluntary Recall Notice of Ready-to-Eat (RTE) Meat Products

Port of Spain, February 15, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH), via its Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division, advises of a voluntary recall notice of an undetermined amount of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat products containing Coppa, that may be under processed and may have resulted in possible contamination with foodborne pathogens.

Foodborne pathogens such as Salmonella or Listeria can cause symptoms including diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 6 hours to 6 days after eating the contaminated product.
