A Biomedical Technician maintains and repairs specialist medical equipment, clinical accessories and surgical instruments.
DUTIES
- Install and test medical equipment.
- Maintain and repair medical equipment.
- Conduct safety checks on equipment.
- Train and advice users of safe procedures.
- Work with other staff in determining needs of equipment.
- Performing preventive maintenance on biomedical equipment.
- May be required to travel.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree in Biomedical Technology or a related field, OR
- A Technicians diploma in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEET).
- Appropriate Certification in the repair specialist equipment and systems from the relevant manufacturer.
- Proficient in the use of computers, with a working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite.
- Interpreting schematic diagrams to perform effective repair and maintenance on basic biomedical equipment
