Minister of Health Extends Condolences on the Passing of Former Health Minister
Port of Spain, August 5, 2024: The Ministry of Health and the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health extends heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Emanuel Hosein.
Dr. Hosein served as Minister of Health during the period 1986 to 1991. He will be remembered for his years of service and dedication to country and for championing the cause for persons with disabilities, which earned him the Chaconia medal Gold in 2022.

Port of Spain, August 2, 2024: The Ministry of Health provides the following epidemiological update on Dengue cases within the country.
The Ministry confirms there are 635 laboratory confirmed cases of Dengue Fever and five (5) laboratory confirmed deaths.
Signs and Symptoms of Dengue Fever:
The public is reminded that Dengue Fever may be spread by the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito. Symptoms appear within 5-6 days of being bitten, last for 1-2 weeks and can include:

Voluntary Recall of Potassium Chloride Extended Release Capsules, USP due to Failed Dissolution
Port of Spain, July 04, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH), via its Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division advises of the voluntary recall of 114 batches of potassium chloride extended release capsules, USP (750mg) 10 mEq K. The recall was issued by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc. due to failed dissolution.

Port of Spain, June 21, 2024: The Ministry of Health takes the opportunity to remind the public that Malaria is a curable and preventable vector-borne disease.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Malaria can be contracted from the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito. However, it cannot be spread directly from person-to-person like the flu or common cold.
