Pharmacist

Pharmacy is about the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals; it provides a link between the health sciences and the chemical sciences and is the quality control between the patient and the physician.

DUTIES

  • Prepare, compound and dispense medication.
  • Monitor drug therapies for contraindications, interactions allergies and appropriateness
  • Monitor adverse drug reactions and report to the relevant authority
  • Monitor the quality of drugs being used by the clients
  • Provide drug information to the physicians and to the public
  • Give advice to clients on the appropriate use of medication, devices and services in order to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes.
  • Give advice on lifestyle choices in order to improve clients’ quality of life.
  • Counsel clients on the over the counter medication to ensure no possible side effects when used with other prescribed medications.
  • Aid clients in the management of chronic non communicable diseases
  • Conduct tests such as blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol and advises on follow up actions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy (Bsc.)
  • Registration with the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad and Tobago
