Ministry of Health launches Toll Free NCD Hotline

Port of Spain, September 2, 2024: The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce a new 24-hour hotline for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). This free service offers medical advice and support for individuals who use home blood pressure or blood glucose monitors and have health-related questions, concerns about abnormal readings or any other NCD related issues.  This new service was formally launched in August, 2024.

Staffed with trained nurses and doctors, this telemedicine call centre would provide linkage to care with follow up interventions such as referrals to local health centres, ambulance services and emergency departments to facilitate appropriate follow up care. This hotline is a key component of the Ministry’s Hypertension and Diabetes (HTN/DM) Self-Management Initiative, aimed at addressing the increasing prevalence of chronic disease conditions in Trinidad and Tobago.

Persons will be able to access the Hotline, toll free, by calling 800-4NCD (4623), where trained medical personnel are available to listen, support, and provide the necessary assistance. Persons are also encouraged to visit the Ministry’s website www.health.gov.tt  and follow us on social media for more information.

The Ministry of Health remains committed to empowering citizens of Trinidad and Tobago with the information necessary to better manage and take personal responsibility for their health.
