Closure of the Ministry of Health Head Office - Thursday 20th June

Port of Spain: June 19, 2024: Following a ruptured pipeline which flooded several floors, the Ministry of Health (MoH) advises the public that its head office will remain closed on Thursday June 20.

While repairs to the ruptured line were completed, the continued closure is necessary to facilitate the inspection of all building systems so as to assure the safety and comfort of staff and visitors to the building.

This closure is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees and visitors and to facilitate urgent repairs.

We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause and assure the public that we are working diligently to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Ministry of Health Participates in the Universal Prevention Curriculum Practitioners School-Based Drug Prevention Course

Port of Spain, June 10, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH), via its National Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Programme (NADAPP) participated in a Regional Training of Trainers in the Universal Prevention Curriculum (UPC) Practitioners Series - School-Based Prevention course, from May 29-June 5, 2024, at the Ministry of Health’s Corporate Headquarters. The training was facilitated by the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (ES-CICAD), Organization of American States (OAS).

Voluntary Recall of Docetaxel Injection, USP due to Potential Presence of Particulate Matter

Port of Spain, June 07, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH), via its Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division advises of the voluntary nationwide recall of two lots of Docetaxel Injection, USP (80 mg per 8 mL multi-dose vials and 160 mg per 16 mL multi-dose vials). The recall was issued by the international distributor, Sagent Pharmaceuticals due to potential presence of particulate matter from the stopper in the drug product.

Port of Spain, May 15, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH) reminds the public that very high temperatures (heated conditions) can be dangerous and advises the population to take the necessary precautions to safeguard their health.

Stay Hydrated by:

  • Eating fruits and vegetables (At least 2-4 servings of fruits daily and eating vegetables with every meal),
  • Drinking at least 8 - 10 glasses of water, daily,
  • Avoiding drinks with caffeine and alcohol.

Port of Spain, May 1, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH), via its Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division advises of a voluntary recall notice of Prednisolone Acetate Ophthalmic Suspension USP I% w/v 5ml Eye Drops. The recall was issued by the manufacturer, Juvencia Lifesciences Private Limited due to possible bacterial contamination.
