Port of Spain, 18 March, 2024: The Ministry of Health (MoH) presented state-of-the-art Resuscitation Training equipment to representatives of the Regional Health Authority’s (RHAs) during a hand over ceremony held at the Ministry’s Head Office on Thursday 14th March, 2024.
The equipment included a SUSIE Advanced Obstetric Simulator; a NOELLE Birthing Simulator with birthing and resuscitation baby, with wireless control tablet; and a CHARLIE Neonatal Resuscitation Simulator with Interactive ECG, Life/form.
Each RHA will each receive three (3) models, which will be used to improve the lives of many women, newborns and society at large. They will also be utilised in training sessions for healthcare workers to:
- Promote teamwork,
- Identify clinical errors,
- Reduce clinical risk, and
- Improve clinical outcomes
The Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health noted that this was intended for use by health care workers including Nurses, Midwives, Doctors and Undergraduate Medical Trainees to respond to emergency situations involving mothers and babies, which may occur during and after birth. These new medical training devices, the Minister added, will ensure that our country is able to sustain the gains made in Maternal and Newborn outcomes at the hospitals and improve delivery of services to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
