Following the birth of a child, postnatal referrals are sent to community health centres for follow-up within six weeks of childbirth, ensuring newborns' and mothers' well-being through assessment appointments and follow-up appointments.
At age six weeks, an assessment is carried out at the Health Centre and another appointment is given to start the child’s vaccination process, at two months. The child will be given subsequent appointments at the Health Centre, during the appropriate clinic days, in accordance with the immunization schedule. Talk with your child’s doctor if you have questions about any vaccinations recommended for your child.
Children are monitored at the Health Centre’s up to five years of age. However, children over the age of five are followed up at school where vaccination is continued under the school immunization programme,
- School Entry Programme: Under the Public Health (Nursery Schools and Primary Schools Immunization) Act, all children are required to be fully immunized before they are allowed admission into school.
