Media Release - The Minister of Health Meets with Fast Food Chains and Restaurants

Port-of-Spain, June 26, 2023: “The incidence of diabetes and obesity among our children is alarming and therefore there is a need to revisit the food options fed to them to avoid an explosion of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).” So said the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health as he met with the heads of Fast Food Chains and Restaurants at the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber’s Office, in Port-of-Spain earlier today.

Port-of-Spain, May 28, 2023: The Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health called for robust and targeted approaches to address marketing strategies used by multinational corporations which encourage increased consumption of fast food by teens and adolescents, with the aim of preventing an explosive increase in the rate of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) including Cancers.
