Self-Harm

Self-Harm

Self-harm is a challenging and deeply personal experience where someone intentionally hurts themselves as a way to cope with overwhelming emotions like sadness, anger, or hopelessness.

Sometimes people think that self-harm is just for attention or to manipulate others, but that’s not true. It’s a serious issue that comes from deep emotional pain and not knowing healthy ways to cope. It’s not about getting attention, but about trying to deal with really tough feelings in a harmful way.

What can I do if I’m struggling?

If you or someone you know is struggling with self-harm, it’s crucial to seek help and support. You’re not alone, and there are caring individuals who want to assist you through this difficult time. You deserve to receive the care and guidance necessary to overcome self-harm and find healthier coping strategies. Don’t hesitate to reach out for help, as your well-being is important,

How can I help myself?

  • Talk to a trusted adult: Share your feelings and concerns with a parent, teacher, school counsellor, or another adult you trust. They can listen, offer guidance, and connect you with resources to support you.
  • Practice self-care: Take care of yourself by getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, and engaging in activities you enjoy. Physical well-being can positively impact your emotional health.
  • Express yourself: Find healthy ways to express your feelings, such as drawing, writing, or talking to a friend. Expressing yourself can help release emotions and make you feel better.
