Bullying

Bullying

Have you ever felt targeted by someone who seemed intent on causing you harm, repeatedly and on purpose? That’s what bullying is all about – a hurtful cycle where someone uses their power to intimidate or hurt others. It can manifest in various ways, from physical aggression to hurtful words and cyberbullying. These experiences, whether at school or online, can deeply affect our mental and physical well-being.

Bullying is more than just a tough moment or teasing; it can be a traumatic experience with long-lasting effects. It’s essential to recognize that if you’re going through this, you’re not alone, and what you’re feeling is valid.

What can I do if I’m struggling?

If bullying is taking a toll on you, please don’t hesitate to reach out for support. Speaking with a trusted adult, such as a parent, teacher, or counsellor, can be a comforting and empowering first step. They’re here to listen, offer guidance, and ensure you feel safe and supported. You’re not alone in this, and there are caring individuals ready to stand with you through this challenging time.

How can I help myself?

  • Set Boundaries: Clearly communicate your boundaries and assertively stand up for yourself when they are crossed. Let the bully know that their behaviour is not acceptable and that you will not tolerate it.
  • Avoid Isolation: Surround yourself with supportive friends and allies who can provide companionship and solidarity.
  • Practice Self-Care: Take care of your physical and emotional well-being by engaging in activities that promote relaxation, stress relief, and self-care.
