Stress

Stress

Stress is a natural response to challenges or threats that you face in your life. It’s like our body’s built-in alarm system, gearing up to help us deal with tough situations. When we’re stressed, hormones kick in, causing our hearts to beat faster, our muscles to tense up, and our minds to race with thoughts. It’s our body’s way of getting ready to handle whatever comes our way.

Sometimes, stress can be helpful, like when it gives us the energy and focus to tackle a big school project or perform well in sports. However, too much stress or stress that lasts for a long time can be overwhelming and exhausting. It can affect our mood, sleep, our physical health  and our overall mental health if left unmanaged.

What can I do if I’m struggling?

Feeling stressed out is something many of us go through, and it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. Reach out to adults you trust who can help you learn how to handle and cope with stress.

How can I manage my stress?

  • Identify Your Triggers: Figure out what’s causing your stress so you can address it head-on. Whether it’s school pressure, relationship issues, or worries about the future, understanding your triggers is the first step to managing stress.

  • Practice Relaxation Techniques: Deep breathing, meditation, yoga, or even just taking a walk outside can help calm your mind and reduce stress levels.

  • Take Breaks: Don’t forget to give yourself a break from time to time. Schedule time for activities you enjoy, whether it’s playing sports, listening to music, or spending time with friends.
